Carbon offsetting

Is a way for an individual, organization, or business to offset the emissions that they are responsible for by funding projects that reduce or remove carbon emissions elsewhere. The idea behind carbon offsetting is that the carbon emissions from one source can be balanced out by reducing emissions from another source. This can be done by investing in renewable energy projects, such as wind or solar power, or by funding projects that increase energy efficiency or capture carbon from the atmosphere. The goal of carbon offsetting is to reduce the overall amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. However, it is important to note that carbon offsetting is not a substitute for reducing emissions at their source and it should not be used as a way to avoid taking action to reduce emissions.
